ST. PAUL, Minn.--Since 1886, the Saint Paul Winter Carnival continues to bring family-friendly events and community pride to Saint Paul and the Twin Cities Metro Area. The Saint Paul Winter Carnival is the oldest winter festival in the United States.
The 2013 Saint Paul Winter Carnival buttons were designed by Chad Peterson, a local freelance artist and longtime Winter Carnival Ice Carving Contest competitor. The button dedicated to the ice sculptures is a self portrait and can be seen above.
The Winter Carnival Ice Carving Competition is a signature Winter Carnival event and will take place in Rice Park beginning Jan. 24. The Multi-Block Competition will begin at 9 a.m. on Jan. 24 and end at 9 a.m. on Jan. 26. The Individual Block Competition will begin on Jan. 27 at 9 a.m. and will be stopped promptly at 3 p.m. for judging. Come out and watch as blocks of ice are transformed into beautiful masterpieces!
