ROGERS, Minn. - When all was said and done 861,000 pounds of food was collected in the KARE 11 Food Fight.

The food was stored overnight at a warehouse in Rogers, where it will then be transported to Second Harvest Heartland Wednesday morning.

Mike Krance with Second Harvest says the food collected will provide over 600,000 meals for the hungry. "When you consider that one in ten Minnesotans are at risk of hunger on any given date, and that's over 600,000 people, that means we collected one meal for every person who needed it," Krance says.

Krance says the food will reach people's tables within a few days through the various food shelves, soup kitchens and other agencies that Second Harvest partners with. Krance took time to thank Cub Foods, Whole Foods, Kowalski's and Byerly's, who housed the four teams on Tuesday.

KARE 11's Bryan Piatt has more from the warehouse that housed all the donated food overnight.
