MINNEAPOLIS - Thousands of people didn't line Nicollet Mall Monday morning to cry over the team that isn't winning in Minnesota.
They came to say thanks to the team that is and the team that has been for the last three seasons.
As the 2013 Minnesota Lynx carried the WNBA title trophy back to its Target Center home, fans knew a few things.
The Minnesota Lynx have had the BEST record in the league for three years in a row.
The Lynx lost ZERO playoff games this season.
For the third straight year, season ticket sales have not gone down, not stayed even, they've gone up.
So to say this town doesn't have a winner is wrong. The Lynx have a trophy, making its second in the past three years.
"It just feels good to know, we love our Minnesota fans and they love us too," Lynx 6th Woman Monica Wright said at the parade.
So on this day when too many are bemoaning a quarterback kerfuffle on one side of town, thousands too few are celebrating the greatest professional sports franchise this town has seen to date.
If we measured success with just wins and heart there would be no comparison, for the rulers of the women's game have been doing it better than any other team before them three years and counting.
