ELK RIVER, Minn. -- A 7-year-old girl has died after falling off a raft at Lake Orono Beach Saturday.
According to officials at North Memorial Medical Center, 7-year-old Emily Lewandowski passed away Thursday morning.
On Saturday, police got the call just after 6 p.m. that a girl was on a raft in the lake with two other boys in about four feet of water when she slipped off.
Police say Emily went under the water at that time because she did not know how to swim.
Her father ran into the water to try and find her but it took two to three minutes because the water is not clear.
He finally found Emily with his foot, brought her to shore and began CPR.
She was initially taken to Mercy Hospital but then transferred to North Memorial.
