EXCELSIOR, Minn. - The Excelsior Farmer's Market has been around for 21 years every week during the spring, summer and fall.
Residents come out and enjoy an afternoon of strolling down and meeting local gardeners, bakers, butchers and more.
Over the years there has been some great relationships born from the market. The folks at Great Harvest Bread Company met the guys at the Excelsior Brewing Company and started putting their beer in the bread. The results have been great and a smoked gouda with dark ale is the current favorite.
The 318 Café has been on Water Street in Excelsior for nine years and they not only serve many local brews like Excelsior Brewing Company beer, they have also started buying as many things locally as they can for their entrees, including great heirloom tomatoes from Ridgeroll Farms.
The relationships are great and the food and drink are even better the Excelsior Farmer's Market is on Thursday's through the end of October and will start up again next May.
Thanks to Laura Hotvet for telling us all about the market and this great story.
