MINNEAPOLIS - Buzz surrounding the Minnesota Golden Gophers football team has been sky high this season in Minnesota, but the team's 8-2 record is also getting attention from national media.

A producer for ESPN's College Game Day tweeted this week that the Nov. 23 game against Wisconsin could be featured on the Saturday morning pregame show.

College Game Day travels to different college campuses throughout the season. Typically, the game that is chosen is one of the week's marquee matchups.

The Battle for the Axe has not been that type of game for many years, but thanks to the success of the Gophers, it's possible that some glitz and glamour could be coming to the University of Minnesota campus.

In hopes of pushing that effort, the website Gopherhole.com has turned to social media and a grassroots effort to show ESPN a little Gophers pride.

The U of M Athletics Department said they don't expect a decision from ESPN until after Saturday's games. The Gophers are on a bye this week.

Other marquee games next week include Baylor at Oklahoma State and Texas A&M at LSU.
