ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Police say a St. Paul man shot and killed his brother after an argument Saturday night.
Sgt. Paul Schnell says 40-year-old Brian Scott Orloske of Houlton, Wis. died at a home in the 1300 block of Reaney Avenue. Schnell says officers were called to a home on that block at 11:03 p.m. on Saturday night.
"He (the suspect) was near or with his brother at the time officers arrived," Schnell said.
He says officers got a call that a man had been shot in the head. When they arrived, they found the victim and his brother to be the only people in the home. Schnell says St. Paul Fire Department paramedics took Orloske to Regions Hospital where he died shortly after arrival.
Police arrested the brother, a 38-year-old St. Paul man, on a probable cause charge of murder. Schnell says investigators are still working on figuring out the motive, but the brothers had reportedly argued earlier Saturday evening.
"There was nothing that would indicate that this was going to be a lethal incident," the Sgt. said.
Family members contend this had to be an accident. Brian Orloske leaves behind his common law wife and two children; a 21 month old girl and a 6 month old boy.
Members of the victim's family said Brian Orloske called his wife a half an hour before police got the 9-1-1 call.
The suspects neighbors say they would often see the brother's hanging out at the St. Paul home. "His brother's down here quite a bit, they've always got along because he always talks about his brother. Something like this is mind blowing," neighbor Louis Sanders said.
Schnell says this is the sixth homicide in St. Paul this year and the third time a family member murdered another family member, including the second time a brother murdered his brother.
