SOLON SPRINGS, Wis. -- Jo Stewart isn't vying for Hillary Clinton's job, but the 83-year-old retired school teacher would certainly bring humor to any meeting with a foreign dignitary.

"It's hard to fight wars when you're laughing," she chuckles.

Five years after Jo's story first appeared on KARE 11, she's still laughing--in a very public way.

Jo started the Solon Springs Laughing Club featured in a "Land of 10,000 Stories" segment in 2006. She's still at it. "It's in my will," she joked. "I want it to continue."

Each Thursday morning at 10 a.m. Jo takes her place on Solon Springs' main street and laughs out loud for 15 minutes. Some days she stands by herself. On other days she's joined by other people from town. Either way, it's hard to miss.

Once, when word of the laughing club spread through a local campground, she was joined by 27 people. The crowds are thinnest when the weather is bad, but Jo never misses the opportunity to laugh, rain or shine, summer heat or 20 below.

What she told us five years ago, is still true today. "I like to see the funny side of life. I just do!"
