COPPER MOUNTAIN, CO - Minnesota native and Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn suffered a partial tear to the ACL in her right knee in a fall during a practice run Tuesday.
Vonn's publicist confirmed the injury in a written statement Wednesday afternoon, saying that she also strained the knee and suffered facial abrasions and a shoulder contusion during the same spill.
"She needs to rest for a few days and then will pursue aggressive physical therapy," said spokesperson Lewis Kay,"and will determine the next time she is able to compete after seeing how she responds to the treatment."
The Burnsville native is attempting to come back from a major rebuild of her knee after blowing out both the ACL and MCL during a World Cup event last winter. The plan was for her to take part in an event in Beaver Creek next week, but as of now those plans are on hold.
