MINNEAPOLIS -- Alan Page and his daughter Kamie Page talked with KARE Saturday about their new book and the upcoming gala for the Page Education Foundation.

Alan Page is the co-founder of the Page Education Foundation, Associate Justice for the Minnesota State Supreme Court, and is a Pro Football Hall-of-Famer.  The book, "Alan and his Perfectly Pointy Impossibly Perpendicular Pinky," was written collaboratively between Page and his daughter, a second-grade teacher at The Blake School in Minneapolis.

One-hundred percent of the books revenue will go directly to the Page Education Foundation which helps students of color who are facing extreme difficulties in achieving their educational dreams by means of encouragement and financial support.

"I think whoever reads the book sees in Booker someone they know, someone they've had a connection with, and that Booker can be that Page Scholar, even if he is the kid who always asks the inappropriate question at the inappropriate time," said Ms. Page. "He still has a voice and a strong mind and a spirit. That is what the Foundation is looking for."

The foundation will be celebrating its 25 anniversary this year with its annual Spring Gala on Saturday April 6th at Target Field in Minneapolis. The gala honors the foundation's commitment to students of color and youth mentorship, offering post-secondary academic funding in exchange for tutoring young children in their communities.

Nationally acclaimed artist Chastity Brown will provide music for the event along with St. Olaf's cappella group, MacPhail Community Youth Choir, and the Wellstone Elementary drum line. The menu will include classic ballpark fare and retro treats prepared with gourmet flair.

Tickets are $150 per person and can be purchased online at page-ed.org.

Proceeds from the event go to fund the Page Education Foundation.
