GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- The Red Ribbon Ride is off and rolling for a four-day, nearly 300-mile bike ride for HIV/AIDS. It raises money for eight MN AIDS service organizations; they are: African American AIDS Task Force, The Aliveness Project, Clare Housing, Hope House of St. Croix Valley, Minnesota AIDS Project, One Heartland, Park House and Rural AIDS Action Network. 80% of the money raised is returned to the agencies that benefit.
The Ride starts at the Mall of America, travels to overnight stops in Lake City, Rochester and Northfield and finishes at the State Capitol. The Ride is supported by an all-volunteer Crew and Erik's Bike Shop.
This year's Ride is July 14-17, 2011. Riders are required to raise a minimum of $1,500. The registration fee is $75 for Riders and Crew, which includes all meals, pit stop snacks, and more during the Ride.
