"You get what you give." That's what Jerry's Mom always told him. Maybe that's why Jerry is doubly blessed --- he does outstanding volunteer work for two organizations.
Blind since birth, Jerry uses his disability to teach others about being handicapped. He and his guide dog Kerwin make regular visits to school classrooms on behalf of the Vision Loss Center. His goal is to make students realize that people with handicaps are just as normal as everyone else.
Jerry's other volunteer work centers around Handi Hams. He organized the amateur ham radio group for residents at the Courage Center. Jerry says it's a fun hobby that can take you just about anywhere in the world --- via the airwaves.
When he's not volunteering, you'll find Jerry canoeing, sailing, cross-country skiing, snow shoeing, or restoring a cabin built in 1916.
