GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn.-- Each year, we at KARE 11 recognize outstanding volunteers in our community with the Eleven Who Care award. This month, it goes to Maria Keller, a Twin Cities girl who's working to bring one million books to needy kids.
Maria is the founder of the charity Read Indeed. Donated books are sorted and boxed by child and adult volunteers and then shipped to places in the Twin Cities and around the world. As of January more than 579,000 books had come through the organization.
Visit the Read Indeed website for information about making donations or volunteering time.
