GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - The Great Green Challenge is all about Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, but this week we put emphasis on the second "R".
After four weeks of pointing out all the mistakes that are being made at KARE 11 when it comes to recycling, there is good news to report when it comes to donating and reusing unwanted items.
For example, last week our computer specialist sent out an email regarding several used, but working computers. They need new memory cards, but employees were offered the chance to take one home. And they've all been spoken for! So instead of ending up in the trash, these babies are headed to new homes, where they will be loved.
And every once in a while, we get new décor for the sets that you see on air. The old ones don't end up in the trash, they get re-purposed and show up on your television is a slightly different way.
And we're planning on some new décor in the weather department. I'm not sure where the old foam core wall coverings will end up, but it won't be in the trash!
Sometimes you can't reuse things yourself, but most likely someone can. Think about donating your unused or unwanted items.
Rethink Recycling is a great resource for both businesses and residents to find out where you can take your unwanted items.
