Minneapolis, MN --- The stereotypical image of someone who is drowning is misleading.  Water safety experts with North Memorial Medical Center say the typical person does not thrash about and call for help.  Instead, they usually slip silently beneath the water's surface.

North Memorial has been a leader in organizing a water safety coalition. The Twin Cities Metro Water Safety Task Force was formed last spring after several drownings in swimming pools.
