GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn  --  This month's Medtronic Community Partner Spotlight focuses on the Minnesota Resuscitation Consortium.

Kim Harkins, of the Minnesota Resuscitation Consortium, told us  about the HeartRescue Project at the University of Minnesota and their program to improve outcomes after Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) throughout Minnesota.

We learned about the difference between a heart attack and SCA, and how an on-line, virtual Save-a-Life simulator can take some of the fear out of public bystander response to SCA.

The Consortium is one of seven partners that make up the HeartRescue project, sponsored by the Medtronic Foundation. Launched in March 2011, the HeartRescue Project is designed to improve how SCA is recognized, treated and measured in the United States. You can learn how to respond to a sudden cardiac arrest by trying the virtual Save-a-life simulator at www.HeartRescueNow.com.  For more information on the Minnesota Resuscitation Consortium, visit www.mrc.umn.edu.
