MINNEAPOLIS -- Roots for the Home Team is a great new program in the Twin Cities that brings together partners that have a fabulous mission. We want to thank Susie Moores for telling us about this great achievement. It took her and her team three years to get this off the ground and growing!
Blue Cross Blue Shield of MN Foundation, Land O'Lakes, BARE Chicken and the Minnesota Twins Community Fund have a new partnership involving youth garden programs in ethnically diverse areas of the Twin Cities. They will use the produce they grow in a number of gardens to create and sell delicious salads at Target Field on Sunday home games.
The Twins are working with three youth garden programs in the metro. The young folks who grow the produce will sell it and have come up with tasty recipes for salads to be sold at seven more Sunday home games at Target Field.
Just look for the Garden Goodies food cart inside Gate 34 on July 1, 15, 29, August 12, September 9, 16 and 30 which are all Sunday games.
Here are the great recipes that they have created: Asian Salad, Citrus Salad, Couscous Salad, Fiesta Salad, Quinoa Salad, and Slugger Salad. Try them at home or buy them the next time you see the Garden Goodies food cart.
