CHANHASSEN, Minn. - Having a few frosty nights in the months leading up to end of the growing season when we have a killing freeze are very common.  Picking the right perennials that can handle the frost and even flourish when the temperatures drop is pretty easy.  There are all sorts of choices that can extend your season and your color in your garden.

Here are some great examples from the perennial garden at the Landscape Arboretum:

  • Pulmonaria-Lungwort-Raspberry Splash
  • Joe-Pye Weed
  • New England Aster-Purple Dome
  • Autumn Joy Stonecrop
  • Transylvanian Sage-Blue Spires
  • Gaillardia Grandiflora-Goblin-Blanket Flower
  • Jack Frost-Siberian Bugloss

Good luck, Belinda & Bobby
