ST. PAUL, Minn. - At Children's Hospital in St. Paul they have been busy with many amazing projects but something in particular caught our eye in Grow with KARE a rooftop garden.
A healing garden is a place that provides access to nature and improves health outcomes. Over a decade of research has shown the significant impact that gardens in healthcare facilities have in reducing stress, improving human resiliency and providing resources for coping and restoration.
In St. Paul, on the fourth floor rooftop, there is a 6000 square foot space that has been dedicated to this healing green space for play, social, support and quiet reflection that leads to a sense of normalcy for patients and families under stress. The rooftop garden and playground was designed and and is being built by Cre8Play, a Minneapolis company dedicated to creating unique play environments.
The rooftop will be complete in the spring when they add plants and music but we wanted to give you a sneak preview before the snow flies - oh wait -while we were there, we saw our first flakes of snow!
Spring cannot come soon enough!
