A one-car accident on a rural Carver County road has claimed the life of a second girl. Kelly J. Phillips was a back-seat passenger in a vehicle that went off of County Road 40, north of Belle Plaine on Friday. The driver, 17-year-old Kylie K. Grayden, of Shorewood, was pronounced dead at the scene. Grayden and Phillips were seniors at Minnetonka High School. Phillips' grandmother said Kelly loved sports, worked hard in school and had a strong faith. "She enjoyed life so much," JoAnn Phillips said. Phillips said Kelly had specified on her driver's license that she wanted to donate her organs, and that her wishes will come true. A 17-year-old boy from Little Canada was a passenger in the front seat. Mitchell P. Grengs is listed in serious condition at Hennepin County Medical Center. The state patrol says Phillips was not wearing a seat belt, but Grayden and Grengs were. Friends of Phillips and Grayden say the three teens were on their way to a party when the crash happened.
