GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- If there's any way to get KARE 11 Sunrise anchor Tim McNiff fired up, it's to blow things up or shoot them into the sky.

Cue the Kitchen Pantry Scientist, Liz Heinecke.

Liz and her kids Charlie and May were in the studio Friday making film canister rockets. All it takes to propel them is a bit of gum, alka seltzer tablets, and then water to set off the reaction.

For more cool but simple experiments you can do with your kids, just click on the Kitchen Pantry Scientist website.

By the way, Liz was one of the lucky scientists selected to watch the final lift-off of the Shuttle Endeavor, and she will tweet about it on her website during the scheduled launch April 29th.

Stay tuned!
