MINNEAPOLIS - Officials are asking a judge to terminate the parental rights of a Minnesota couple accused of starving one of their four children.

In documents filed this week, Nicollet County social services officials say the 8-year-old boy suffered egregious harm and it is not the best interest of any child to be under the care of Russell and Mona Hauer.

The Hauers each are charged with six felonies, including neglect. Their attorney, Jason Kohlmeyer, says they'll fight the charges and the petition to have their parental rights terminated. He notes that a judge has allowed the boy's three siblings to return to home, after they were removed for almost two weeks.

Meanwhile, Mayo Clinic officials confirm Thursday that the boy was released from the hospital Wednesday. He is in foster care.
