Little boys, big messes!

Update: You may have seen this post recently, but mmay have missed a couple of funny comments that have been added. It's a sticky situation heading into the summer travel season. Like me, my wife and daughter are pretty good about keeping the van clean. The boys? Not so much. As I was vacuuming (and at times chiseling) away in the back of the Town and Country I started to feel like the maid who has to clean the rock stars' hotel room. It was an odd collection of objects: A drink-holder filled to capacity with agates, pretzels, a shell from a robin egg, a yo-yo, a broken squirt gun, Skittles, sticks from a couple suckers, two Matchbox cars, a used Band-Aid, a sticky lump of what looks like one-time Gummi Bears, a marble, a tree branch, and a Wiffle Ball. Among the mess, some money. And pocketing it took a little muscle. Turns out, when a penny gets coated in sugar from a candy treat it fuses to the van like steel welded to a war ship. But, we got-- all 87 sticky cents. Unlike the reclaimed cash, there's a rainbow of stains that will be part of the décor straight through to the van's final voyage. I did the best I could, considering I didn't have a ray gun. Although I wouldn't have been surprised to find one tucked between the car seats. For now, the van is clean enough to offer a ride to a colleague or a family friend. But with a trip to the cabin coming within a month and a summer of spinning around town, I'm sure it's only a matter of time before what's within the sliding doors of our van will again be our family's sticky little secret.
