MINNEAPOLIS -- It's easy to understand why so many of the cyclists I pass on the trail these days are smiling so widely. There is so much to to celebrate.
The city's first bike boulevard, the Riverlake Greenway is now open. You can now go from 42nd Street East and the Mississippi River to Lake Harriet.
We rode it over the weekend. It's pretty cool to think that you can cover that much ground in just minutes without a lot of traffic.
Fabulous Find: Lake Harriet's new Bread and Pickle concession is terrfic. They are serving up fresh and yummy fare from burgers to gourmet sandwiches. And for snackers, there's the classic popcorn, cheese curds and ice cream. This is definitely worth a stop.
And I've saved the best for last. If you are heading to Target Field for a game, there is no better way to get there than on the newly opened Cedar Lake Trail extension.
It's a fabulous new paved path that takes directly to Target Field.
Kudos to all who had a hand in making this a reality. This includes Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak and several neighborhood coalitions.
Pretty cool to see Minneapolis living up to it's recent designation as the #1 bicyling city in the country.
