Finding a great work bag
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Amanda Guralski is a career coach, and founder of the online magazine for young working women, BizMe.biz.
Guralski says a great gift for the working woman this holiday season is a well-chosen work bag to hold personal necessities, as well as technology, including laptops, iPads, cell phones and old-fashioned paper files.
When choosing a bag, either for yourself or for a gift, Guralski says make sure it is well-made.
"You don't want to buy a new work bag every year because the one that you keep buying isn't made well," said Guralski.
To that end, Guralski recommends checking the bag's straps, zippers and the material it is made with for durability. She recommends straps made with a good quality chain if the bag will be used to carry heavy items.
Because women might set bags on the ground, Guralski says look for "feet" on a bag. Those are generally little metal or plastic protrusions from the bottom of a bag that prevents the body of the bag from touching the ground.
Guralski says weather might also be a factor in choosing a bag. She recommends patent leather, which can repel snow and rain and easily be wiped clean.
For women who hit the gym, Guralski showed off a bag from Lululemon Athletica in St. Louis Park that had a padded compartment for a laptop.
