The 2013 Volkswagen Jetta continues to improve following the 2011 model year's major changes to the classic Jetta. For the first time Volkswagen plans to release a hybrid , but that won't come until October; in the meantime, Volkswagen focuses on improvements to the Jetta's upper echelon trims including expanding the wheelbase creating more leg room for the backseat. Overall, the Jetta has a sophisticated look and high-quality German engineering throughout the four trims: S, SE, SEL and the TDI.

The base S model handles like every other Jetta but lacks top of the line fuel economy and features. The S model is equipped with a 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine that produces 115 horsepower receiving 23 miles per gallon in the city and 29 on the highway. Features include air conditioning, power and heated windows, and an auxiliary jack with an available sunroof, cruise control and a center console.

The convenience package in the SE model includes heated front seats, Bluetooth connectivity, updated sound system, satellite radio and an iPod input with an optional sunroof and touchscreen. The SE model is equipped with a 2.5 liter inline five-cylinder engine producing 170 horsepower that gets 24 miles per gallon in the city and 31 on the highway.

The SEL has the same engine as the SE and many of the same features except the SEL model includes all of the optional luxury features that are optional in the SE. For example the SEL includes keyless ignition, fog lamps, six-way power driver seat, sunroof and touchscreen center console.

The TDI model features a turbodiesel 2.0 liter inline four-cylinder engine producing 140 horsepower that receives 30 miles per gallon in the city and 42 on the highway. The TDI model far and away receives the best fuel economy of all Jetta models and is equipped with luxury features similar to the SE and SEL models with base and premium TDI trims available.

The 2013 Volkswagen Jetta is not just a performer on the road but will also keep you and your family members safe. Each model is equipped with traction and stability control, active front head restraints, and standard front, side and side curtain air bags. The 2013 Jetta was also named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
