CRYSTAL, Minn. -- It's the perfect time to thank your plumber.
Monday is National Plumber's Day, a time to honor those that fix the leaks, clear the clogs, and do the dirty work on sinks and toilets.
"I feel very honored," chuckles Todd the Plumber while working in a home in Crystal. "I've been a plumber since 1984."
Todd, from his appropriately named company "Todd the Plumber" says on this day it's important to remember there are things you can do at home to prevent a call to the professional.
"Things like putting food coloring in the tank, letting it sit, and if there is color in the bowl it is time to replace the flapper," says Todd. "Homeowners should do that at least once per year."
Tips aside, The Duluth Trading Company is making sure plumbers are the priority at their "Hug a Plumber" event to be held at the Longfellow Grill Monday.
Expect plenty of food and drink specials, but there will be some competition, too. Plumbers will try and flush their competition in activities like the "Toilet Bean Bag Toss" and "Pin the T-Shirt on the Plumber."
It'll be an event to highlight those that bend over and get to work. T-shirts that cover up those "exposed" areas will be given away, too.
The "Hug a Plumber" runs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
