EAGAN, Minn. - One blood donor can save the lives of up to three people each time he or she gives.
Blood donors have helped save the lives of all four members of one family.
The Huebner's of Eagan have beautiful, three-year-old, twin girls.
Life can get a little crazy when you have a young family.
Heather Aagesen-Huebner described their life, "Working two jobs and having two kids and I just finished grad school and Jon trains for marathons."
She said it's a good crazy but she also said they had to go through some bad crazy to get to this point.
Just as the girls' lives were beginning, Jon was diagnosed, in 2009, with acute myeloid leukemia, a cancer of the blood.
Jon Huebner said, "When I was diagnosed, Heather was four-and-a-half months pregnant with our daughters and she was having a very difficult pregnancy and was already on bed rest."
Jon was hospitalized. Heather's parents came to live with her because she couldn't leave her bed.
For his cancer treatment, Jon needed more than 50 units of blood.
Heather said, "Luckily, Jon got out of the hospital for his first hospitalization about a week and a half before the girls were born."
He wasn't the only family member helped by blood donors.
Jon said, "Heather had a c-section. She had blood products. The girls were born six weeks early. They had blood products. I mean without people donating, we wouldn't have made it through that summer."
They are so grateful for the American Red Cross and blood donors.
Heather said, "Now we have normal crazy which is really wonderful in its own way and we want other families to have that same type of normal crazy."
So Heather asks others to do what she does regularly now. She said, "Just a simple thing that nearly everybody can do is to give blood."
