On Tuesday, Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak and several city council members announced the opening of a city-funded home mortgage loan program.
The program is called Minneapolis Advantage and it will provide $10,000 of forgivable loans to help people buy a home in Minneapolis.
According to the City of Minneapolis' website, the Minneapolis Advantage Program is designed to help potential buyers purchase a home in areas challenged by foreclosure.
The program offers 200 loans at $10,000 each that can be used to pay for closing costs, down payment, or even small repairs to the home.
