MINNEAPOLIS -- National Hockey League (NHL) star and Minnesota native Dustin Byfuglien is facing charges of boating while intoxicated after being arrested on a lake in Hennepin County Wednesday night.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office says the 26-year-old Byfuglien was arrested at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday night and booked into the Hennepin County Jail on probable cause for third degree boating while intoxicated refusal after refusing to take a blood or urine test.

An arrest log for the Hennepin County jail says Byfuglien was booked just after 11 p.m. Wednesday and released some three hours later. He has not been formally charged.

The arrest was made on Lower Lake South on Lake Minnetonka in Excelsior.

Dustin Byfuglien grabbed the spotlight by scoring 11 goals in the Chicago Blackhawks run to a Stanley Cup in 2009-10. He now plays for the Winnipeg Jets, but lives in the Twin Cities metro in the offseason.

Byfuglien was raised in Roseau.
