MINNEAPOLIS - After nearly 14 months, Joe Senser decided on Monday to break his silence surrounding the conviction of his wife on vehicular homicide charges.

After an uneventful five minute hearing in court for his wife, Amy Senser, Joe Senser unleashed on Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman, calling him a liar and accusing him of a knowing about the controversial jury note sent on the day of the verdict saying the jurors believed Amy Senser didn't know she hit a person.

"If you want to get the hairs on the back of my neck to stand up, start threatening my family and that is what elected County Attorney Freeman did when he lied about Amy Senser to the public. He wanted you to believe something other than the truth," Senser told reporters.
Joe Senser also spoke candidly about the timeline in this case, saying his wife was always in full cooperation with investigators.

"At no time during this process did Amy Senser ever try to hide nor did she try to get away with an accident at caused the death of Anousone Phanthavong," Senser said.

Senser was visibly agitated when he spoke on Monday morning because he said his family has been enemy No. 1 in the minds of many.

"I don't know friend from foe when I walk around anymore. I don't know who is going to seek revenge from all of those threats we received, Senser said.

But his anger softened when he was finished with his accusations and chose his final words to be about the most painful loss in this case, the loss of life.

"My family will always honor the memory of Anousone Phanthavong. We are good and decent and hard working people," Senser said.

In July, Amy Senser was sentenced to 41 months in prison for the death of Anousone Phanthavong. The Minneapolis chef was struck and killed while filling his car with gas on an I-94 off ramp.

Amy Senser's appeal process is moving forward. Filings in those cases are expected later this year.
