POTTSVILLE, Pa. - A dispatcher says four children and two adults have died in a house fire in eastern Pennsylvania.
The four children and two adults were identified as 30-year-old Eric Brown; and his children, 2-year-old Elijah Brown; 3-year-old Emily Brown; 7-year-old Jeremiah Brown; and 8-year-old Joy Brown according to the Schuylkill Count Coroner's office.
Twenty-six-year-year-old Kristina Thomas also died. She's the sister of 28-year-old Kelly Brown, the mother who survived.
Schuylkill County emergency dispatch supervisor Bill Lindenmuth says the fire broke out around 11:55 p.m. Sunday at a home in Pottsville and that firefighters later found the bodies inside. The blaze was declared under control shortly before 1 a.m.
Pottsville fire Chief Todd March says crews had to proceed carefully through the building because of the extensive amount of damage. The cause of the blaze wasn't immediately known and a Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal was at the scene.
A neighbor says Kelly Brown was doing laundry at her house because her washing machine was broken. They saw smoke and ran to Brown's house, but were unable to rescue the victims.
