"I help because I can!"
On the surface Peter Larson may seem like your ordinary teenager, he enjoys computers, skiing, biking and video games. But there is definitely something extraordinary about this 14 year old; he is on a mission to end homelessness.
Peter heard a speaker, former Eleven Who Care honoree Bob Fischer, at one of his Cub Scout meetings and was inspired to help out. Peter has been 'sleeping out' to end homelessness ever since. In 2007 he raised $50,000 for Interfaith Outreach & Community Partners. In addition to raising funds for the cause, Peter has raised awareness and participation levels. His dedication and determination inspired Peter's Scout troop and school to join him in the fight to end homelessness.
Peter sleeps outside in a box from mid-November through December 24. He is out there regardless of the temperature and doesn't complain. He does it because he knows that he's helping other people stay in their homes and that makes him feel good.
