STILLWATER, Minn. - It will be at least a week before the Stillwater Lift Bridge will be open to large boat traffic, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Spokesperson Kent Barnard says that a cable became frayed and some strands actually snapped on Sunday night at about 8 o'clock as the bridge was being lowered.
The lift bridge is currently stuck in the down position, which means that pedestrian and foot traffic will not be impacted.
Bridge inspectors were at the bridge investigating on Monday morning.
