BEMIDJI, Minn. - A suspect has been arrested in the fatal hit-and-run death of a man near Bemidji last Wednesday.
The Beltrami County Sheriff's Office announced that deputies arrested a 58-year-old Bemidji man in connection with the death of Christopher Lee Strong. The 25-year-old was struck and killed by a vehicle on Grange Road Northwest just east of Nature Road.
Investigators recovered a red Monte Carlo with front end damage that is believed to be the vehicle that hit Strong.
The suspect is currently being held in the Beltrami County Jail pending review of the case for charges by the Beltrami County Attorney's Office. KARE 11 does not name suspects until they charged.
The arrest is the result of an intensive investigation by Beltrami County Sheriff's Office, with help from the Minnesota State Patrol, MN Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Red Lake Tribal Police, Leech Lake Tribal Police and the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office.
