GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - A Minnesota man leaves Monday on a 15,000 mile journey in honor of his late father.

James Rienstra lost his father Wally in 2006 to pancreatic cancer. Wally was 59 years old.

Rienstra knew he wanted to do something in his father's memory, so two years ago he rode from Minnesota to Alaska on his bicycle. The trip raised nearly $17,000 for cancer research.

Now Rienstra wants to do more. On Monday, he'll leave Minnesota en route to the southern tip of South America. The 15,000 mile journey will take him to the West Coast through Mexico, Central America and eventually South America. Rienstra expects the trip will take him 15 months to complete. He hopes to raise $100,000 for in honor of his dad.
