The Minnesota Crime Alert Network has cancelled the Amber Alert issued last night. The 14-year-old Deidre Jeanne Michuda was found with her noncustodial father, 34-year-old Stephen Michael Michuda, at the Park at Mall of America. A guest at the amusement park spotted the two and alerted a mall employee, who in turn contacted security. Security then called the Bloomington police who have the man in custody. Police say Stephen Michael Michuda took his daughter after school Monday, even though he has a prior conviction for a sex offense and a court order prohibits him from having unsupervised contact. Police say he packed his personal belongings and left with his daughter about 2:45 Monday afternoon. Tuesday police found the green 1998 Chevy Venture minivan Stephen was reportedly driving when he took Deidre, in South St. Paul. Stephen Michuda was convicted of 2nd degree criminal sexual conduct, a gross misdemeanor, in 1994. In that case he was sentenced to a $300 fine and 21 months in jail — both were stayed for ten years. That stayed sentence was revoked a year later and Michuda served his prison sentence. He was also jailed for a domestic assault charge in 2004.
