FRIDLEY, Minn. -- Authorities have arrested 23-year-old Shawntas Turnage, accused of abducting a woman and holding her against her will for two days.
Officers from the Minnesota Gang Strike Force and the Minneapolis Police Department arrested Turnage around 5:30 p.m. Monday at 35th and Abbott Avenues in Robbinsdale.
Anoka County Sheriff's Lt. Paul Sommer says the 25-year-old woman, who was abducted in Fargo, N.D., was sexually assaulted and tortured during the two days and has injuries consistent with her report. He says the suspect's wife also witnessed some of the crimes.
Sommer says Turnage held the woman until she was able to escape from an address in Fridley on Sunday. He says the woman is now recovering from her injuries.
Authorities say the suspect has had past contact with the woman.
