A motorcyclist was killed in a traffic accident in Anoka County on Thursday.

The St. Francis Police department responded to an accident between a motorcycle and an automobile on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The accident happened at Ambassador Boulevard and Bridgestone Street in the City of St. Francis.

Witnesses told police the motorcycle was eastbound on Ambassador when a car that was westbound began to turn southbound onto Bridgestone. While making the turn, the car drove directly in the path of the motorcycle. The motorcyclist was unable to stop or avoid the car.

Police say the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say the motorcyclist was a 49-year-old man from Princeton but have not identified him yet.

A 20-year-old female from Nowthen was the driver of the car.

St. Francis Police, the Minnesota State Patrol and the Anoka County Sheriff's office are still investigating the crash.

Officials say alcohol or chemical use is not a factor in this accident.
