Richard Gerdes, Asst. Regional Census Manager
MINNEAPOLIS-- As it does every year, The 2010 U.S. Census will bring forms to fill out and return, to give federal authorities a picture of what America looks like.
But this year, it will bring something else needed in this sluggish economy-- jobs.
Richard Gerdes, assistant regional census manager says the bureau will hire 8000 people in MN to be door knockers, and offer office support. These positions are part time, short term, and will pay $9 -$15 per hour. Most are expected to last from May 1-July 1.
The number to call for job information is 866-861-2010. It will direct you to your nearest Census office to apply.
This is one of the shortest census forms in history, the 2010 Census form asks 10 questions and takes about 10 minutes to complete. Census forms will be delivered or mailed to households in March 2010. Census Day is April 1, 2010, the official day of the population count.
Households should complete and mail back their responses upon receipt. Census workers will visit households that do not return their forms to take a count in person.
