INDEPENDENCE, Minn. -- An 11-day-old baby boy has died after being bit by the family dog in Independence.
According to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner the boy's name was Robert D. Hocker.
It happened Thursday afternoon at a home in the 3000 block of Lake Haughey Road.
According to officer Ray McCoy from West Hennepin Public Safety, the little boy was in a car seat on a bed in a bedroom when his family's 71-pound male Siberian Husky bit him.
First responders performed CPR and "exhausted all life-saving measures," West Hennepin County Public Safety officer Ray McCoy said late Friday afternoon.
But the baby was pronounced dead at the scene.
The medical examiner's report said the boy died of head injuries suffered in the attack.
The Hennepin County medical examiner, the sheriff's office and West Hennepin Public Safety are investigating the death.
