MINNEAPOLIS -- U of M linebacker Gary Tinsley faces a laundry list of criminal charges after fleeing police on a moped over the weekend.
Minneapolis Police say an officer was working a 'party detail' near campus early Sunday morning when he saw two people riding mopeds the wrong way down a one way street. The officer tried to stop them but the drivers fled.
Officers then chased the suspects down sidewalks and through yards until one rider jumped off his moped on the 1100 block of 4th Street and tried to escape on foot. University Police eventually captured that man, and identified him as Gary Tinsley. He was booked, and placed in the Hennepin County jail. The other moped driver has not been identified.
The Minneapolis City Attorney will consider a number of charges against Tinsley, including driving while intoxicated, fleeing police, and reckless driving.
This is not Tinsley's first brush with the law. Last fall he was detained for his involvement in a brawl following a Gopher football game. Witnesses say he was swinging a board during the fight: Tinsley was cited him for underage drinking and fleeing police.
