MINNEAPOLIS -- Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak is joining his colleague across the river by asking city officials to avoid official travel to Arizona in the wake of that state's tough new immigration law.

Earlier this week St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman banned St. Paul employees from traveling to Arizona on the city's dime.

Rybak does not have the authority to impose a ban on city travel, said city spokesman Matt Laible.  But he's encouraging department heads to review travel plans and find alternatives if city employees are supposed to travel to Arizona.
