ROSEAU, Minn. -- Thousands of fans welcomed hometown hero Dustin Byfuglien and the coveted Stanley Cup to one of Minnesota's most hockey-crazy cities Sunday.
Byfuglien was one of the stars of the Chicago Blackhawks championship team. While he was later traded to Atlanta, by hockey tradition every player on team gets to bring the Stanley Cup home.
A fire truck led a parade into Roseau as Byfuglien sat in a red convertible next to the Cup. His voice cracked and his eyes teared up as he thanked a capacity crowd at Roseau's Memorial Arena.
Byfuglien kept the official ceremonies short, but spent hours signing autographs and posing for pictures.
On Monday, Byfuglien's plans were a bit more laid-back: he planned to take Lord Stanley's Cup fishing.
