NORTH BRANCH, Minn. -- If you were planning on going to Hay Days in North Branch Saturday, think again.

Authorities are not allowing any further entry into the snowmobile drag racing event due to a major traffic mess, according to Chisago County Sheriff Todd Rivard.

Rivard says there are major delays on County Road 95, backing up traffic to I-35. Residents in the area tell KARE11 they aren't even able to leave their driveways.

In addition to too much traffic on rural roadways, Rivard says morning rain caused semis to get stuck in the mud adding to the congestion.

Organizers anticipated around 20,000 people to attend the event Saturday.

Hay Days is located in North Branch on Oriole Avenue near County Road 95.
