MINNEAPOLIS -- Wally the Beer Man and seven other alcohol vendors have been suspended for the rest of the season after being cited for selling alcohol to minors at Target Field.
The routine alcohol compliance check at Thursday night's game was conducted by Minneapolis Police. The vendors who were cited are employees of Delaware North, the company that runs concessions at Target Field.
"The guy must have looked 30 to me," Wally said. Vendors are required to card anybody who appears younger than thirty.
Wally the Beer Man, whose real name is Walter McNeil, said he has never been cited for selling to minors in the 40 years he's been selling beer at events.
Police said the violation is a gross misdemeanor. Wally said he doesn't know when, or if he'll be back.
"All I can tell 'em is, boy, I sure hope to be back," he said.
