MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota Athletics department will be holding a "Burst the Bus" food drive for Second Harvest on November 5 and 6 prior to the start of the men's and women's hockey games against the Wisconsin Badgers.
On Friday, Nov. 5, the women's team plays at 6 p.m., followed by the men's team at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Nov. 6, the women's team takes on the Badgers at 4 p.m., while the men's team follows again at 7 p.m.
The Athletics Department's M.A.G.I.C. bus (Maroon and Gold Impacting the Community) will be parked between Mariucci and Ridder Arenas and Gopher student-athletes will be collecting non-perishable food and monetary donations. Every $1 donated, is worth $9 of food.
The "Burst the Bus" is just the first donation event the Gopher student-athletes have for the Thanksgiving season. The Gopher student-athletes will also be looking for donations outside of the Sports Pavilion and Williams Arena entrance (University Ave) prior to the volleyball match against Michigan State on Nov. 13. Donations can also be made at the Nov. 14 women's basketball games as they host the Best Buy Classic and Nov. 15 when the Gopher men's basketball team plays Siena.
