CARVER, Minn. -- Youth Enrichment League's fencing program is designed for students in 2nd - 10th grades. Students compete in six fencing tournament bouts (these are NOT single elimination events) against students of similar age and ability.
This is a full day event that is currently held annually in the spring. It is open to any student, but we strongly encourage prior experience in the YEL fencing club before participating in a tournament.
Safety is paramount in Youth Enrichment League's fencing courses. Students are outfitted with: a thick safety jacket, a safety mask that covers the face, ears and neck, a glove for the foil hand and a bendable safety foil with a rubber safety tip. We institute strict safety guidelines in our courses that students must follow immediately or be asked to sit out.
Fencing increases young athletes': speed, strength, dexterity, quickness & focus. Each session builds on the fundamentals learned in the previous session, however, our classes are open new and repeat students. We also occasionally offer a separate session for only repeat students.
