BLAINE, Minn. - The proposed constitutional amendment to ban same sex marriage is an issue that can bring emotions to a boil in a hurry.
But in one Blaine neighborhood things have escalated from impassioned debate to vandalism. Residents say at least 5 homes with "Vote No" signs posted in the front yard were targeted sometime late Monday night or early Tuesday morning.
Victims say signs were defaced, and lewd images of genitalia were painted on garage doors. Neighbors rolled up their garage doors so children walking to their bus stops would not be exposed to the images.
Blaine police were on scene Tuesday morning, gathering evidence and information in an attempt to find those responsible.
Captain Kerry Fenner says the vandalism occured at homes along Radisson Road between 132nd and 109th Streets. Fenner says right now there are no leads.
