ROCHESTER, Minn. - It will be a whole new game for hockey fans in Rochester Friday night.
A whole new color scheme, anyway.
When the Rochester Ice Hawks take to the ice against the Minnesota Junior League team from Hudson at the Rochester Rec Center, they will do so on a sheet of ice painted bright pink.
The colorful switcheroo was made after the Ice Hawks joined forces with the Susan G. Komen Foundation's Passionately Pink for the Cure program, which supports life-saving research, education, screenings and treatment programs in the fight to end breast cancer.
All fans are being asked to wear pink to the game to show their support for the battle against breast cancer. Ice Hawks players also will be wearing pink sweaters that night, and following the game those jerseys will be auctioned off with all proceeds going directly to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
